EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems fade, both physical health and personal performance improve (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. What is EFT and why is everyone talking about it? Quite simply EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is the most exciting breakthrough in therapy and personal development in a long time. It is a new treatment tool for anxieties, fears, trauma, procrastination, addictions, weight loss and much more: a gentle highly effective way to transform any issues blocking emotional happiness or personal achievement. It is an emotional version of acupressure without the needles. Certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips. EFT is one of the new Power Therapies, also known as ‘Energy Psychology’ which are developed from the ancient Chinese meridian energy system. It is based on the premise that all negative emotions are the result of a disruption in the body’s energy system.
We perceive our reality based on what we know, what we've heard and learned and felt all our lives. All those things and events colour the way we see the world around us and how we choose to understand it. Something happens when you are a child, and for whatever reason, be it a glitch in your energy, a past life memory, or what you've already learned in your world, something in your make-up creates a reaction to that happening. And then a myriad of reactions occur to your reaction, and so on. You learn something about your world. As life goes on, you perceive that world within the context of the things you have learned - learned to be truths, to be rewarding, to be protective - at various levels of consciousness. When EFT is applied successfully to emotional issues, it tends to remove the unnecessary level of emotion. Thus a fear of heights, for example, is typically reduced to normal caution. The unnecessary heart pounding and panicky feeling is gone but proper caution remains so that the client doesn't jump off the top of a building. This is why EFT can often be applied soon after a traumatic or grief stricken event. It tends to remove only the unnecessary emotional response AT THAT TIME, leaving appropriate levels of response. More work can be done at another time for any additional unnecessary emotion.
EFT clears the blockage or disruption by tapping on the end points of the body’s energy meridians (while thinking of a specific issue) which sends pulses of energy to rebalance the body’s energy system in relation to that thought/specific issue. Shifting energy changes the way the brain processes information about a particular issue, and so tapping while tuned in to the issue is like rewiring or rerouting the brain's conditioned negative response. You can imagine how liberating this is if you or someone you know has suffered from a phobia, or traumatic memories. EFT also works in the same way to release the limiting thoughts and beliefs that get in the way of success, happiness, health and inner peace. The Energy Psychology Breakthrough Developed by Gary Craig, in the USA, EFT is the leading technique of the new treatments referred to as Energy Psychology. The success of these treatments with a wide range of emotional and physical issues are creating breakthrough understanding about the nature of healing and personal change. It really seems that if we view the body as a dynamic "energy configuration", where thoughts, emotions and memories are entwined in an information feedback system with our subjective and physical experience - (and can be influenced by energetic interventions such as meridian stimulation), remarkable results follow.
Getting started with EFT
EFT is a relatively new procedure, but already over 300,000 – including thousands of health care practitioners – have downloaded its free manual from: www.emofree.com/a/?1912/1 and an additional 10,000 download it every month. The manual is available in nine languages, and EFT practitioners around the world, especially in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and Australia, teach EFT classes and work with clients. EFT is spreading very rapidly and that is largely due to the fact that Gary Craig, EFT's founder, has fostered an openness of spirit and sharing of information which has attracted people who want to take responsibility for their own health and happiness. The best way to get started is to visit Gary Craig's website: www.emofree.com/a/?1912/1 where there is a free downloadable manual. It may be that this opens up a whole new world of possibilities for you, and if it does you could continue through a combination of self-study via the DVD sets: www.emefree.com/a/?1912/2 In the future the role of the body's energy system in emotional and physical healing will be widely acknowledged and respected. In the meantime, this idea is still quite revolutionary and as Gary Craig points out "we are on the ground floor of a healing high-rise". Note: While EFT has produced remarkable changes in many emotional and physical issues to date, it should not be used instead of appropriate medical care. You should always consult your doctor before using any form of self-treatment.
